WSA Annual Review 2022

Welcome to our 2022 Annual Review!
Like many, we have now adapted fully to working in a hybrid fashion. Much of what we do is online but we have also been back doing face-to-face work and really enjoyed reconnecting with people and communities in person. We know that many people have really missed this face-to-face connection, so it has been a welcome opportunity to chat and share ideas again. Our team attended Big Local Connects in Nottingham, which was a great event to do just that.
We continued this year to undertake research and evaluation, working with a range of great partners and looking at some interesting ideas and projects. These included the Greenwich Community Champions project evaluation and some very exciting research we are currently involved with around digital inclusion in libraries for the Good Things Foundation.
We have also continued to work around the sharing of lived experience and patient voice. This has included some partnership working with the Inequalities in Cancer Outcomes Network to bring the voice of lived experience to their research. More recently, we are happy to say that we are part of a consortium led by Ipsos that will be supporting the Covid Inquiry Listening Exercise. This feels like very important work in encouraging the voices of communities to share their experience.
Our CPD-accredited training courses go from strength to strength as, in conjunction with stakeholders, we are able to create and facilitate more bespoke training courses. Dedicated to creating community leadership and voice, as well as having a strong commitment to social inclusion and empowerment, these bespoke courses allow groups to choose their own agenda and focus, and to work towards goals they specifically want to achieve.
This past year, communities have been readjusting to life post-Covid-19 only to find themselves facing yet another period of uncertainty, with increased inflation, fuel price increases and a steep rise in the cost of living. This context is obviously really challenging and we recognise this and want to support communities at this time.
This annual review outlines our work during 2022. Thanks again to all our partners! If you want to collaborate or work together, please do get in touch and one of our team would be very happy to talk to you.
